About MyFirstBroker
MyFirstBroker.com is an independent financial education website dedicated to helping everyday Americans take their first steps into investing — without the jargon, without the confusion, and without the hidden agendas.
We started this site because getting started with investing is genuinely hard. There are hundreds of brokers, thousands of products, and a financial media industry that profits from keeping things complicated. We believe it doesn’t have to be that way.
Who We Are
MyFirstBroker is run by a small team of personal finance enthusiasts and independent researchers based in the United States. Our editorial team has collectively spent years studying retail investment platforms, reading SEC filings, testing brokerage interfaces, and talking to real beginners about what actually confuses them.
We are not licensed financial advisors. We are educators. Our job is to give you the clearest, most honest picture of your options — so you can make your own informed decisions.
Our Editorial Standards
Every broker review on this site follows a consistent methodology:
We evaluate platforms on fees, account minimums, ease of use, educational resources, customer support, and investment selection
We update our reviews at least quarterly to reflect fee changes, platform updates, and new features
We clearly disclose when a link is an affiliate link — we never let affiliate relationships influence our ratings or recommendations
We cite primary sources: SEC.gov, FINRA BrokerCheck, official broker fee schedules, and peer-reviewed financial research
Our Independence Promise
We are not owned by any brokerage. We do not accept payment for positive reviews. If a broker is not good for beginners, we say so — regardless of whether we have an affiliate relationship with them.
Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning we may receive a commission if you sign up through our link. This comes at no extra cost to you and does not affect our editorial ratings. You can read our full Financial Disclaimer for more details.
Sources We Trust
Our research draws from:
SEC.gov — U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
FINRA.org — Financial Industry Regulatory Authority
Investor.gov — Official U.S. investor education resource
Official broker fee schedules and terms of service
